Carrots

Abingdon Preparatory School will be staging the musical ‘Carrots’ in February 2009 in the Amey Theatre at Abingdon School.

The production will include performers from all four schools within the Abingdon 4 Education group of Schools – Abingdon Senior School, Manor Preparatory School, St Helen and St Katherine and Abingdon Preparatory School.

"Carrots" is based on the true story of the life and death of the boy John Somers, an 11 year old ginger haired Victorian orphan found living in the streets of the East End of London by Dr Thomas Barnardo – surviving, with his orphan friends in 1866, which inspired Barnardo to put up the famous sign ‘no destitute child ever refused admission’.
